The fourth Thursday of November is, traditionally, the day we gather our families over an abundant meal and give thanks. To us here at ilumin, Thanksgiving isn’t a date on the calendar, but a verb. We give thanks by never taking for granted any of the beauty around us.
There is no place more beautiful than Nebraska in the Fall. The honey sunsets over amber fields and golden leaves are images artists have tried to capture for generations. This Autumn, ilumin is grateful for the gift of having vision in such a diverse and rich environment, and want to celebrate the sights that keep our eyes wide with wonder!
Whether you’re the outdoorsy type, down for a drive, or up for a night on the town, we have compiled a list of must-see spots for anyone seeking breathtaking vistas this fall.
Parks and Trails
If you’ve lived in Nebraska for long, it’s likely that you have a favorite park to visit. Whether it’s Elmwood for a picnic, Seymour Smith for frisbee golf, or one of the small playgrounds, ponds, or trails sprinkled throughout the area, you’ve become a bit of a loyalist. Well, we’re giving you permission to cheat on your favorite park! Pack a lunch, a fishing pole, or a pair of binoculars and explore more.

Fishing
The chill in the air may drive away the summer fishermen, but it brings the seasoned sportsmen to many of Nebraska’s beautiful lakes. The Sandhills Lakes are a vision to behold, and worth the journey to partake in the fall foliage and Nebraska’s truest natural body of water. In the summer and early fall, the vegetation in the water can make this body hard to fish. As temperatures cool, the vegetation dies back and the water clears for easier access to the water’s true riches! Learn more about the Sandhills Lakes Here
Experience History

Chimney Rock
